Hi everyone, I'm getting back into things. Graham has returned to work this morning (although he was reluctant :-D) and I'm spending the rest of this month just sorting through emails, accounts, updating myself on everything and then back with clients from 1st July. Thank you to those team members who supported my clients in my absence - very much appreciated. I've uploaded the FoVA photos I took to my Facebook profile and I invite you to go and have a look. I'll gradually add all the names … [Read more...]
Two industry leaders together
Just thought I'd quickly share with you a photo of myself and Sharon Williams at FoVA09 together. Sharon and I've known each other for many years but up till this week had never met face-to-face so it was a joy to meet her and have my photo taken with her. She and I, and other industry leaders, will be on a discussion panel this morning at the event, before my husband and I head off to Vancouver to join a tour and enjoy a holiday. I've been limited for time online so will report more later … [Read more...]

Virtual Assistants and Twitter
There are quite a number of Virtual Assistants on Twitter now and with it growing groups. One of them focuses on FoVA 2009 and the group is listed as #FoVA09 if you're looking for it. If the link doesn't work try http://twitter.com/#search?q=%23FoVA09 It's amazing how a new networking tool can soon become addictive, if you let it! Where once I thought I only needed one blog and now own many (on different topics), it would seem the same applies to Twitter profiles, depending on the audience … [Read more...]
VA Networks – a ready resource
When I was first growing my VA Network it soon became obvious to me that I had to find a way to put all the members in touch with each other, without having to pass on email addresses all the time or get them to remember to 'reply all'. It was around that time (late 1996) that I was invited to join an online forum for home based businesses at Boxplanet and I saw first-hand what I needed for my team to be able to chat to one another. So our forum was started and shifted to a few places before … [Read more...]
OIVAC is just around the corner!
Welcome to those guests who have been following the OIVAC blog hopping tour! Seasoned VAs (or those that have been around for longer than 12 months) will know that the Online International Virtual Assistants Convention is gearing up for another fantastic event. I was privileged to be a member of the steering committee for the first 3 years and really enjoyed the experience but (personal) events over the last 12 months have led to my stepping down. I don't believe this to be a bad thing - it … [Read more...]
Taking on a new client
I regularly have clients contacting me via my website asking for a Virtual Assistant to support them. The work is quite wide and varied, with some jobs being one-offs and others being short- or long-term commitments. Most of the time I introduce the client to a Virtual Assistant team member and I don't hear from them again, unless it's to thank me for my assistance in connecting them - but very few clients do that. However, on odd occasions a client will come back to me to ask for a new VA and … [Read more...]
Spend your govt bonus on an Aussie VA!
Watching the news on TV there was an article about the Australian Govt bonus that will be soon made available to those eligible in Australia. They were recommending that in order to help boost the Australian economy the bonus should be spent on services in Australia, rather than pay existing bills or purchase goods where a percentage of the monies will go to businesses outside of our country. That includes whitegoods. As soon as they mentioned 'services' my ears pricked up. They did mention … [Read more...]
Countdown to FoVA
If you visit my blog you will have noticed the big yellow post it note on the right with the countdown information and link to the Forum on Virtual Assistance (FoVA) taking place 3-7 June in Canada this year. But if you read my blog via RSS you will have missed seeing that, so I thought I would share something of this event with all of my readers. I was delighted when asked last year to come over to FoVA and present a workshop (on social networking and blogging) and participate in the rest of … [Read more...]
