Setting goals for your VA business

When you first start out with your Virtual Assistant business it’s easy to get caught up in the daily activities of finding clients, setting up systems, establishing what your service offerings are going to be, learning from other VAs and so on.  There does come a point in time though when you could begin to feel like you’re always working, always marketing, always doing something, but very little for yourself.  Setting goals for yourself is a good way to help you get focus – providing you reward yourself when you reach those goals!

In sales roles they often set sales targets, i.e. so many sales per day or week, or so many $$ per day or week, or month.  You can do similar for your VA business. Assuming you already know how much you should be earning per month to meet your financial needs, you could elect to set a goal that is a certain amount over that figure and also plan what you will do when you reach that goal.  It might be to buy something you’ve been wanting to get. Or it might be to give yourself some time off, or save for a holiday. Something. The goal needs to have personal value to you so you can feel that you’ve earned it.  After all, all work, no play, tends to make you a dull person – literally.  You need time to refresh as a person and allow yourself to have recovery time.  Rewards of any nature can often help towards that aim.
