The value of a Virtual Assistant is being widely acknowledged now, although there are still many business owners who are learning all about our industry.
I recently shifted to a new BNI chapter closer to home and there are quite a few categories in that chapter that are perfect ‘power partners’ for my Virtual Assistant business. I’ve had 10 dance cards (one-on-one meetings) over the past few weeks and have enjoyed sharing with each BNI member the diversity of the things that I do. I love seeing the surprise on their faces as they begin to see that it’s more than just typing and data entry, there is so much more I can help them with in their businesses. Social Media has been a topic of particular interest, as have blogs.
Having the opportunity to meet with these people individually, and often in my own office, has allowed me to explain the various aspects of things I do, the types of clients I’ve assisted and the benefits to each of those clients. One of the things that consistently stand out to each person I share with, is that Virtual Assistants really do add value to their clients’ businesses. Once they get over the ‘cost’ factor, i.e. having to pay someone to do their admin, they begin to realise that they can actually delegate that stuff to someone else and get on with doing what they do best. Far more effective use of their time which in turn, will generate more income, because they’re not spending time on stuff they’re not good at, and most likely don’t enjoy.
