Hello and welcome to all. It's great to see a number of new subscribers on this list.

This newsletter was written nearly 2 weeks ago but I hadn't had a chance to send it out till now. I've recently shifted home. Just as an aside, it's now 7 weeks to Christmas. Are you getting your plans in place? More below.

This month I have the following for you.

  • Updates
  • Article - Moving Onward and Forward
  • Christmas plans
  • AVAC - Australian VA Conference
  • Need a speaker?

Updates

As you read this newsletter I will be continuing to unpack and organise my new home in Selby, Victoria, Australia. The move was relatively smooth but trying to get the internet connection to take place, as booked and planned a month ago, has been somewhat of a trial. Currently I'm using wireless broadband on a USB connection as our chosen ISP won't come to the party to connect the pole outside our home to our house. They say Telstra should do it and Telstra says our ISP should. Have you ever felt like you're the meat in a sandwich?

Please take note of my new postal address and phone/fax details on the right menu of this newsletter and update your records accordingly. Email/websites remain the same.

Moving Onward and Forward

Moving home or office or, as in my case both, brings with it a mixture of emotions along with a need for extra energy and activity. The andrenalin sets in and I'm all fired up to get the packing finished and move and get the unpacking done. I expect I'll collapse in a heap after that and want to sleep solidly for a full 24 hours at least. But I probably won't.

We've been here in Cheltenham for 15 years and have seen our children grow up, the Internet take hold of the business world in a way that we couldn't have imagined not much more than 15 years ago. I've seen my business grow in amazing ways - ways that were unforeseen and, therefore, unplanned. I did have a business plan in those early days but who could have foreseen the World Wide Web? Certainly I didn't and the majority of the public wouldn't have either. My business plan has gone through some drastic changes since that time.

I took on a business coach 3 or 4 years ago and he has directed my paths in a way I hadn't foreseen either - at least not for the immediate future.

This past twelve months have brought a mixture of life experiences for my family and me - some we would have preferred not to experience, and others have been anticipated with excitement, like the speaking engagement at Niagara Falls in June for the Virtual Assistant industry (a first for me) and this current shift to a new home. My husband and I had promised ourselves that once our girls were grown we would move back to the country to enjoy peace and quiet and the natural bushland. And we are certainly doing that, having found a lovely home on a 2 acre block near the bottom of the Dandenong Ranges.

Although some parts of this year have dragged for us, other parts have moved swiftly. Life has indeed been moving onward and forward in many ways. It doesn't stop for anyone and is always constantly changing.

At the end of November we will achieve another milestone and become Grandparents for the first time. Our eldest, Melanie, hasn't got long to go and we'll be living only 15 mins from her and her husband and new baby.

We have certainly moved onward and forward during 2009. Yes, life is going to be very different in the new year. I wonder what this year has brought for you?

Need a speaker for your event?

“Worth More Than Rubies is a great starting place for moms who desire to work from home. Packed full of practical, useful information as well as the story of Kathie's own journey, I know this will bless many, many women.”
~ Jill Hart, CWAHM.com

Are you working for your family or because of your family?

This topic really hit home for me. It made me feel good about working from home, I felt validated. Kathie's stories about her family and what it meant for her to work from home and what it meant for her family to have her there just made the whole conference worthwhile. Everything else was a bonus.

Kathie M. Thomas has twice been nominated for "Australian of the Year" for 'setting high standards of excellence and contributing in ways that inspire the community'. Kathie has also been listed in Australia's Who's Who of Australian Women 2009 and has received many awards for her business in the past 15 years. She gives women permission to return home and shares with the audience how she did exactly that, bringing up 5 daughters, while establishing a new industry, using skills she'd developed in the corporate world for over 20 years.

Where is Kathie speaking?

  • Available for bookings for the New Year.

Kathie can speak at your next meeting, seminar, conference or church and you can find her full itinerary at her site. She speaks on the following topics:

  • Email Etiquette

About Our Organisation…

What is a Virtual Assistant?

It's a term for home-based secretaries, administrative and secretarial support, and others who supply remote or virtual office support.

Think of a corporate office with a Personal Assistant or Secretary who sits outside the bosses' office providing him/her with admin/secretarial support. Now place that PA or Secretary in a different building - still providing that support but contact is done via email and phone instead of face-to-face. Well, that's how a Virtual Assistant (VA) works.

We are as close to you as your computer and can do almost anything traditional support staff do - except virtually. You don't need to provide office space, equipment, software or furniture - we have our own!

Location no issue as the work is carried out 'virtually' no matter where you are!  However, if you need someone locally we can supply. See our list at VA Directory.
