The Need To Take Time Out

I’m back and we had a wonderful time overseas. I had planned to do a lot of reading and writing once I was on the plane but just couldn’t get in the mood. Graham (my husband) says I totally changed once we got on the flight – his full on choleric/sanguine wife suddenly became a total phlegmatic* and that is true. I really just wanted to rest, relax, tune out and sleep. Consequently I watched movies on the plane or looked out the window and watched the countries pass underneath us. I spent a lot of time just thinking. And I slept – a lot. It was good to have the time to do that. As much as I love my business and what I do on a daily basis, it is important to take time out. If you're feeling a little stressed these days, the article below may assist you in handling work pressures better.

Since I’ve been back I have done a lot of reading – the Trump University newsletter has really good information and I joined their chat forum, just to find out what others were thinking about and doing. His latest article (not yet uploaded to their site) was about the difference between ordinary and extra-ordinary. If you'd like a copy, please email me to forward it on to you.  I have a number of things planned for this year – particularly for the Virtual Assistant industry and look forward to making an announcement in the next month or two – when things are ready.

I’ve also spent time updating my family blog and uploading some of the 500+ photos I took – I’m particularly proud of my Eiffel Tower photo which was taken whilst waiting for the tour bus.

This month marks the 12th anniversary of the birth of “A Clayton’s Secretary” and I want to thank all of those who have been or are currently clients – we wouldn’t have been around this long if you weren’t there needing our services. I thank all of you who are regular readers of this newsletter, and for the encouragement you give, and the ideas you put forward on occasion for topics to cover. Also for the guest writers I periodically showcase. I must say technology has certainly changed vastly since ACS started in 1994!

Finally, if you are planning to visit Melbourne this month for the Commonwealth Games, we welcome you! Remember if you are needing business services support whilst you’re here we have a ready team available to you – in almost all parts of Melbourne and surrounding suburbs. Please do give me a call or send me an email and I can make the arrangements for you!  In the meantime, I will be attending a couple of events myself but otherwise am happy to stay in my office and away from the traffic and crowds - Melbourne's been gearing up and planning for this for quite sometime!

*If you’re not familiar with the terms choleric, sanguine, melancholy and phlegmatic, then it’s worth making a visit to Florence Littauer’s site, to find out about them. A great resource to assist you in learning how to work with others – particularly if their personalities differ vastly from your own.

Turn Stress into Energy and Enthusiasm

You are of little benefit to your work or family if you become stressed-out, over-worked and run-down.

Successful people - in business, work or life - know how to turn their work stresses into Energy and Enthusiasm.  Now, anyone can learn how to become resilient to stress and pressure, and this is why I encourage you to visit his website Stress Management Success.

Resilience Expert, Michael Licenblat, explains exactly how you can condition your mind and body to become resilient to pressure, prevent burnout, and balance work and life, in his e-book 'Turn Stress into Energy and Enthusiasm'.

This e-book has helped people become 'pressure proof' in their work and life by turning stress into energy and enthusiasm instead of feeling drained and frustrated.   The techniques in this e-book are essential to having more energy, less tension and better well-being in your life.

Michael has helped over 4000 people in his private practice become resilient to stress and pressure - so he knows what he is talking about!

  • Managers and business owners to effectively balance their work and personal lives
  • Sales professionals to recover from rejections, objections, or lost sales
  • Customer service teams to become emotionally resilient to demanding clients, rude customers or negative colleagues.
  • Support teams to increase their energy and alertness during the afternoon 'tired slump'.
  • Industry professionals to stay motivated and reach their deadlines without feeling tense, stressed-out or uptight.
  • Workaholics to unwind, recharge and prevent burning themselves out

I've known Michael for a while and am happy to give you my recommendation. It is definitely worth the time you spend reading it.  You will not be disappointed.

If you are interested in turning your stress into energy and enthusiasm, then visit his site.  Michael also sends out a worthwhile newsletter called Resilience Review and would be worth subscribing to here. Just scroll to the bottom of the page for the information.

About Our Organisation…

What is a Virtual Assistant?
It's a term for home-based secretaries, administrative and secretarial support, and others who supply remote or virtual support.

We are as close to you as your computer and can do almost anything traditional support staff do - except virtually. You don't need to provide office space, equipment, software or furniture - we have our own!

Location no issue as the work is carried out 'virtually' no matter where you are!  See our newest members listed at VA Directory
