New Look Website
I don't know about you, but I get bored with my websites looking the same after almost a year, and so Christmas time has become the time for developing a new look, updating details, culling old information, and so on. Last month I talked about how I explored blogging during the break of Christmas 2005. This Christmas/New Year break I spent exploring a writers' forum and getting to know a number of people there, and also a new blogging community. And, of course, updating some websites so you're sure to see a new look when you visit my sites.
I hope that 2007 will be a year of moving ahead for you. I've seen it called a number of things so far but two have really stood out - "The Year of Breakthrough" and "The Year of Green Lights". Both have a positive sound to them and both indicate action - to have breakthrough or to get green lights, you have to be moving! So, I look forward to hearing about the things that are moving for you this new year!

Person of the Year 2006 is You!
By now, you've probably heard about Time Magazine's bit of fun - putting a reflective cover on their magazine issue that announces the Person of the Year for 2006. It certainly caught the attention of the media worldwide and probably helped boost their sales considerably.
The idea behind it is an interesting one to explore. There is so much happening online these days and many 'unsung heroes' in the process. If you operate a business, website, blog, moderate a chat forum or anything else on the Internet, it's possible you have influenced a lot of people. And with that, you could be responsible for some changing trends, or introducing a new idea to a community of people, or perhaps even educating or encouraging someone for the better. There are those who literally spend hours on the computer and/or the web, outside of their normal work time, because they are exploring, reading, writing, experimenting, creating and so on. And there is something there for everyone! Anyone who has been on the web at some stage has been through a learning curve and someone else, or lots of someones, have been responsible for helping that person to learn about the internet, and how to use it. We all move from someone who wonders how something is done to showing someone else how to do that thing.
I've lost count of the number of video clips we've seen online of the most creative short movies or cartoons, set to music or a soundtrack of some description - they are so clever. The beautiful Powerpoint presentations, the incredible artwork of artists you would never otherwise know about, clever mind games, funny video clips. YouTube has become renowned for budding movie makers - some are really good, some are just downright weird or rude. And some are motivational. My husband regularly revisits a video of guys travelling by mountain bike alongside glaciers in the Swiss Alps - a dream for him that could well come true later this year. It's certainly good for motivation and beats looking at a 2D brochure that shows no movement.
So, I want to encourage you to continue giving and sharing of your abilities and giftings, the things that will bring a light to another person, or help improve someone else's knowledge or ability. And I want to congratulate you on being the 'Person of the Year' for 2006 - as you helped contribute to the overall growth and change of this world as we know it.
