Need a speaker?

Your webinar this morning was fantastic. Your enthusiasm for what you do was palpable. I was inspired and indeed motivated plus I just simply enjoyed listening to your content and delivery.

You did things that I would have thought everyone on the pedestal would have done, but they don’t. I am more keen than ever to deliver my speech now, as I feel I have seen how it can be done and done well, thank you.

As someone who loves to write also, I am pumped and ready to blog and that too is inspired by your presentation.

So again Kathie, thank you. I must away now as I have to start thinking of blogging ideas … lol

Hi, Can hardly believe we're in February already. Where does the time go?

Next month marks the 16th anniversary of my being in business. So much has happened in those years and I thank all of you for being involved in some way, whether as a recipient of my services, as a member of my Virtual Assistant team, or as a Virtual Assistant member of the industry.

Welcome to all our new readers and of course to our long-term regulars as well. I hope that 2010 is already shaping up to be a good year for you.

Sincerely,
Kathie M. Thomas

    Client Focus

This year I want to focus on profiling clients I work with, so you can meet them too. I'm starting with some of the newer clients.

Over the past few months I've been assisting Karen Norris from Botanic Photos with her website and blog. Karen is building a stock photography site dedicated to photos of flowers for people to purchase for use. She has the most visually beautiful site to visit and her blog is worth subscribing to as well. Karen produces a newsletter and has a free ebook on how to improve your flower photography. She has two client bases - photographers who want to showcase their photos and purchasers who would like to use those photos.

If you know someone who enjoys photographing flowers, or perhaps you just simply like looking at flowers, why not pop over there to view her site?

    Website control
How to ensure your site is always up to date

Over the years I've heard from different people about how they'd love to have more control over their website but don't have any web design knowledge and wouldn't know where to start.

I can appreciate this frustration. Especially when information may be time sensitive.

For the past couple of years I've been encouraging clients to consider having a site created in Wordpress which is actually blog software. However, today it is being used more and more for CMS (Content Management System) sites and once the site is set up you can literally just log in online and update the data, add new data (pages or posts) and even upload images from your own computer. It is very easy to use.

Some clients still prefer to use my services for their updates, and that's fine (I appreciate and love this work) but for those who like to have a little more control and want the update at the time they think of it (like 11pm at night for example) they can literally log in and do it themselves.

The great thing about Wordpress is that you can use services like Feedburner.com to help build your subscriber list - every time you post a new article the list is notified via email or RSS. Or you can stick with a service like 1shoppingcart, aweber or similar and continue with broadcast emails and newsletters. I prefer a combination of both for my own sites.

Please note that in using Feedburner it only sends out the data, not your post in the template but if you use the other services a simple template can be put together in html along with your logo or banner and then sent out in their system. This newsletter is an example.

So if you're looking for a change and something that will give you more flexibility and access for this year, why not consider changing your site over to Wordpress? Quick and easy to install and a number of different templates can be uploaded for simple one-click changes further down the track. Why not contact me for more information?

Regards,

Kathie
